ABOUT
A somatic specialist, informed by the body.
Rachel Budnick addresses mental health concerns such as relationship struggles, divorce, depression, anxiety, PTSD, Trauma (acute, chronic, and complex), Bipolar disorder, ADHD, OCD, and other mood-related disorders using somatic, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioral treatment modalities. Her specialty is in Somatics. She works with teens, adults, older adults, and couples struggling with general stress, as well as those overwhelmed or having difficulty coping with sexuality, non-conforming relationships/poly-versed, self-harm, communication, boundaries, life transitions and endings, eating disorders, addiction and recovery, psychedelic integration, attachment patterns, family dynamics, and conflict.
She works with therapeutic modalities including somatic therapy, psychodynamic and attachment-based approaches, Parts Work / IFS-informed practices, and movement and nervous system-based interventions — along with evidence-based CBT, mindfulness practices, and trauma-informed care.
Rachel holds an M.A. in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Somatic Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), one of the first U.S. programs dedicated to body-oriented psychotherapy. Her training emphasized psychodynamic theory, trauma work, attachment, movement-based approaches, and mind-body integration. She also brings years of experience teaching Pilates and Gyrotonics, informed by ongoing study of somatic and developmental approaches to emotional regulation and human behavior.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE
Meet Tucker.
Rachel's dog, Tucker, sometimes joins her at Unfold. He's AKC certified through the Marin Humane Society and a registered Emotional Support Animal (ESA). Very empathetic, Tucker typically sits alongside patients during sessions — or these days, simply rests quietly nearby. If you're interested in incorporating Tucker into your sessions, mention it during your consult, and Rachel can share more.
