Our Four-Legged Specialists
Our Therapy Dogs
Sometimes, the most profound sense of safety comes from a quiet presence at your feet. At Unfold Psychology, we recognize that starting therapy — especially for children or those navigating trauma — can be scary.
Sammy
Dr. Heafey's Therapy Dog · Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, 9 years old
When Dr. Heafey first found Sammy, abandoned and shivering from the cold, he could not have weighed more than 2 or 3 pounds. Dr. Heafey picked him up and told him that he did not have to be scared anymore and that he had a family now. Sammy promptly threw up on Dr. Heafey, who has loved him unconditionally from that day on. Sammy accompanies Dr. Heafey to the office and is accessible to patients at no additional charge — a grounding, gentle presence in any therapy space.
Wolfie
Dr. Heafey's Therapy Dog
Wolfie joins Dr. Heafey and Sammy at the office — a warm, gentle presence for patients who appreciate a little extra company during sessions. Available to Dr. Heafey's patients at no additional charge.
Tucker
Rachel Budnick's Therapy Dog · AKC certified through Marin Humane Society · Registered Emotional Support Animal (ESA)
Perfectly tempered, calm, and deeply empathetic, Tucker is Rachel Budnick's AKC-certified therapy dog and registered ESA. He joins Rachel at Unfold and provides an unconditionally loving and supportive presence — usually sitting alongside patients, or these days simply resting quietly near them. Tucker is available to Rachel's clients at no additional charge.
To request one of our therapy dogs for your session, let our team know when you book. Sammy and Wolfie see clients with Dr. Heafey; Tucker sees clients with Rachel Budnick. We'll coordinate schedules to make sure one of our four-legged specialists is there to welcome you.
