HOW IT WORKS
Our process.
Above all, our clinicians take care to explain the results in clear, everyday language — skipping medical jargon and long-winded reports.
1
We listen
A comprehensive clinical interview to gather background information and understand your specific concerns.
2
We select the right tools
We carefully select the most appropriate assessment tools based on age, behaviors, and the unique questions we're trying to answer.
3
We synthesize
Our clinicians analyze the results, integrating information from all sources to form a complete, clear picture of cognitive, emotional, or behavioral functioning.
4
We map out next steps
A detailed report interprets our findings, provides a diagnostic formulation if appropriate, and outlines specific recommendations for treatment, accommodations, or daily support.
"Understanding ourselves through psychological assessment is a courageous step toward self-acceptance. When we open ourselves to the insights that emerge, we create space for growth, healing, and transformation."
— Carl Rogers

In Their Own Words
What our clients say
Dr. Heafey has had an incredible positive impact on me. He was able to very quickly identify underlying causes for issues that my previous therapists had all missed, and we either focused on them in our sessions or he gave me referrals where appropriate. I've grown so much and function so much better thanks to all the effort he puts in. He cares deeply about his patients and will always go the extra mile for them.

Dr. Heafey and his team at Unfold Psychology is amazing. I have been working with Dr Heafey for 3 years now and it's completely changed the way I see myself and attitude towards life. The Executive functioning, run by Talia Prince was life changing. I was horrible at following through, staying motivated and life management. I noticed great change just after 6 months of the EF program. Talia is incredible and works harder for you than anyone has before. Highly recommend Unfold and the EF program for anyone struggling with life management.

Common Questions
Frequently asked questions
How long does the assessment process take, from start to finish?
Standard assessment turnaround is 6–8 weeks (testing through final report). For families who need results sooner, we offer expedited service (4–6 weeks), rush service (3–5 weeks), and tornado service (2–3 weeks) for an additional fee. We can discuss which timeline fits your needs during your free consultation.
How much does a psychological assessment cost?
Most psychological assessments range from $3,750 to $15,000, depending on scope and complexity. Prices vary by the type of testing required, the number of instruments involved, and the depth of the written report. Your free 15-minute consultation will include a specific quote tailored to your needs.
What’s included in your written report?
Every assessment includes a comprehensive written report with a clear interpretation of the findings, a diagnostic formulation when appropriate, and specific recommendations for treatment, accommodations, or daily support. Reports are written in plain, everyday language — no medical jargon — and are designed to support educational, clinical, and court-ordered needs. You’ll also receive a dedicated feedback session in which we walk through the results together.
Will my report be accepted by my child’s school or by the court?
Yes. Our reports are written to meet the standards of schools, courts, and clinical teams. To date, our assessments have been consistently accepted without challenge — comprehensive, court-ready, and representative of the concerns and accommodations at issue. Whether you need documentation for an IEP, a 504 plan, SAT/ACT accommodations, workplace ADA support, or a court proceeding, the report is designed to do the work.
Do you accept insurance?
We are out-of-network with all insurance plans. Many of our clients use out-of-network benefits to get reimbursed for a significant portion of our fees. In 2025, our insurance specialist helped clients recover over $54,000 in insurance reimbursements — and that doesn’t include superbill submissions. We provide detailed superbills and can help you understand your benefits before you start.
